3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) and Circular Economy as the basis for moving towards Zero Waste societies. This webinar took place on November 18, 2021 from 11 am – 12 pm. It covered SDG 12. Our speaker was Choudhury Rudra Charan Mohanty, an Environment Programme Coordinator/ Expert at United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD)- DSDG/UN DESA.

Mr. Mohanty is currently leading the global networking for EST, 3R, and IPLA projects. Prior to joining UNCRD in April 2003, he worked in the United Nations Environment Programme/Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP/RRC. AP), Thailand, for ten years (1993-2003) as a Senior Programme Officer/Head of Environment Assessment and Reporting. He also worked as an engineer in the area of land and water resources development for the Command Area Development Authority/Ministry of Water Resources in the State Government of Orissa, India (1988-1991). He obtained his bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Agricultural Engineering and Technology from the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, India, and master’s degree in Water Engineering and Management from the School of Civil Engineering/Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.

Mr. Mohanty presented an incredibly interesting and intriguing presentation. There is so much to learn about the 3Rs, circular economies, and zero waste societies through his presentation.
