Introduction: The Power of Clean Water in Education
Access to clean drinking water is a fundamental human right, yet many schools across Nigeria struggle with unsafe water sources. Contaminated water leads to health challenges, absenteeism, and reduced academic performance. Recognizing this urgent need, EnvironFocus, in collaboration with the Rotary Club and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, launched the Safe Drinking Water Project Niger Delta in 2023. As part of the project, 10 hospitals were equipped with LifeStraw Max filters, and in a recent phase of the collaboration, LifeStraw Community Filters were provided to 10 public schools across the Niger Delta.
This initiative directly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
✅ SDG 6: Clean Water & Sanitation – Ensuring access to safe and clean drinking water.
✅ SDG 3: Good Health & Well-being – Reducing waterborne diseases in schools.
✅ SDG 4: Quality Education – Enabling students to stay in school and focus on learning.
