Climate Action in a Developing Economy is the topic of our September Webinar, and registration is open! The webinar will cover developing a Climate Action plan, highlighting the challenges faced, especially in developing countries. Challenges to be touch upon will include human capacity gaps, lack of political commitments, vested interest in coal and oilFinance, etc. The case study will focus on energy, transport, and waste in Lagos State. Lagos sometimes referred to as Lagos State to distinguish it from Lagos Metropolitan Area, is a state located in the southwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The state was the former capital of Nigeria.

The webinar will highlight opportunities available to an organization interested in investing. It will also discuss waste and the circular economy from an entrepreneurial perspective. It will cover SDG 13 in addition to SDG 3, 11, 12, 17.

Maximus is the C40 City Advisor to Lagos where he is providing technical assistance to the City’s Political Leadership and relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies to facilitate the delivery of Climate Action Plan (CAP) in line with the Paris agreement. He recently delivered on this role leading to the Launch of Lagos CAP in a colourful State Ceremony changing his focus to statewide implementation around vertical integration and mainstreaming. He is also the former HOD, Environmental Planning and Climate Change, Lagos State Government.

Topic: Waste and Circular Economy

Warp is an asset reuse network which makes it easy for organisations to procure or give away surplus items, within their organisation and beyond. The platform improves sustainability and collaboration, whilst reducing waste and unnecessary purchasing. Daniel’s main focus is on the Circular Economy, specifically extending the lifespan of products. However more recently (with the increased time pressure of Climate Emergency) his focus has moved to other areas where he can help expedite sustainability.
