EnvironFocus, in partnership with Rotary Club of Brampton, Canada District 7080, presents the EKCEP: COVID 19 Response Edition. This edition is a variation from the EnvironFocus Knowledge and Culture Exchange Program (EKCEP), where students from different continents through online interaction transfer knowledge of each other’s cultures while working together to carry out a project that provides a sustainable solution in both continents. In this edition, we will be working with students and teachers from Canada only, and the project portion is a Fundraiser. During the Fundraising session, the student will have direct experience of raising capital for social projects that may not otherwise have been funded by financial institutions to meet the needs of vulnerable people in our world. The topic is Access to clean water and sanitation (SDG 6) under the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The learning outcome is for the students after completing the program, to understand the interconnectedness of Access to clean water and sanitation and the role it plays in alleviating poverty.
The objective of the course is to provide the required fundamental knowledge and skills via the completion of a series of engaging learning experiences. The goal is the development of self-efficacy in understanding the youth’s role in aiding the achievement of the UN 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, leading to self-actualization and increased zeal to transfer and apply knowledge learnt in their communities. It is also a means to provide developing countries lacking in social welfare systems with much-needed assistance during this COVID 19 Pandemic. Through funds raised, Hospitals and Internally Displaced People( IDP) camps in Nigeria will receive water filters and Soaps, respectively. This edition is a subsect of the Safe Drinking Water Project.
The COVID 19 Response Edition was created and is being delivered by Obie Agusiegbe (EnvironFocus) and funded by the Rotary Club of Brampton. The start date is today – April 28, 2020, and ending June 28, 2020. We have about 20 participating students and their teachers. This program will be meeting multiple SDGs.
