According to UNICEF Nigeria, Nigeria has made substantial progress in developing policies and strategies for water supply and sanitation service delivery, but faces major challenges in translating these into action.
About 70 million people, out of a population of 171 million, lacked access to safe drinking water. Every year, an estimated 124,000 children under the age of 5 die because of diarrhea, mainly due to unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene. Lack of adequate water and sanitation are also major causes of other diseases, including respiratory infection and under-nutrition.
EnvironFocus Limited, Nigeria, a subsidiary of EnvironFocus has signed an agreement with Vestergaard to become the Sole Nigerian Distributor of LifeStraw® . LifeStraw is committed to redefining the safe drinking water space through technology innovation, product quality, design.
The purpose of this partnership:
To provide Nigerian communities with an innovative solution, developed with Nigeria in mind, approved by the UN foundation; certified by WHO and the United States EPA drinking water standards; that is affordable, durable, easy to install, use and maintain; and can provide instant access to safe clean drinking water for the people based on their current realities.
