Lifting Africa Clothing puts their ESG Dollars to work by investing in EnvironFocus’s Safe Drinking Water Project. ESG refers to environmental, social, and corporate governance factors that provide a framework for investors seeking to invest in companies that create solutions to the challenges currently faced in today’s world.  The pandemic has had a significant impact on ESG investing, and there is now a heightened sense of awareness and urgency to combat climate change and social inequality.  (Halsey SchreierForbes Magazine).

On October 20, 2021, Lifting Africa Clothing donated another LifeStraw Community Microbial Water Filter to the Maternity Ward, Arochukwu General Hospital, Arochukwu, Abia State, under the Safe Drinking Water Project. LifeStraw community is an advanced purification technology that removes viruses, bacteria, parasites, micro-plastics, silt, sand, and cloudiness from water. It can filter unsafe water for up to 70 – 100 people per day and filter 26,000 gallons of water in its lifetime, enough for 100 people for 3-5 years before just the filter cartridge will need to be changed. We are happy to announce this valuable donation by Lifting Africa, which was made possible with the Rotary Club of Umuahia, District 9142.

The Rotary Club did the handover of the water filter on October 20, 2021, which will provide the maternity hospital with access to clean and safe drinking water for pregnant women, new mothers, and their children.

The Safe Drinking Water Project has assisted over 10,000 Nigerians with continued access to safe drinking water, and Lifting Africa Clothing has been a part of its success. Lifting Africa clothing has been investing EnvironFocus’s Safe Drinking Water Project since 2019. Using its ESG dollars, it has provided access to clean water to three Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps in North-Eastern Nigeria. They have also provided safe drinking water to two Maternity units in two hospitals in Eastern Nigeria.
