“69 burnt to death in Onitsha petrol tanker accident” Vanguard News, Very sad. Another environmental disaster. How was it dealt with? In Ontario, Canada, for example, emergency spill response procedures are followed. What procedures does Nigeria have? Will the State monitor the environment for a period of time to determine the impact of the spill on the natural environment air water and land or will that be ignored? Will the polluter be fined? Will there be a proper clean up? Will the families of the victims be compensated? Or will it be business as usual? Are there measures to ensure this situation does not happen again?
